  1. Modelo (7 min): Poll. Play the dialogue; second time, students raise a hand every time they hear a filler or reaction.
  2. Frases útiles (6 min): Read the chips with exaggerated intonation; students echo. Quick check: which phrase buys time? which shows surprise?
  3. Preguntas en el pretérito (8 min): Review question words (Day 6). Students complete the fill-in individually, then compare with a partner.
  4. Tarjetas de rol (10 min): Pairs, 90 s per card. B must use at least 2 fillers and 1 follow-up question. Rotate partners after 3 cards.
  5. Ruleta (10 min): Inner/outer circle: each spin = new partner. 2-minute timer. Students write one interesting fact they heard.
  6. Seguimiento (10 min): «Busca a alguien que…» on paper; then students self-assess on the scale.
  7. Boleto de salida (4 min): MC + confidence check.

Collect the interview notes (product). Recycles Days 11–13 (regular, irregular and stem-changing preterite) and Day 6 question formation. Remind students: ¿Qué hiciste? — the answer uses a different verb (Fui…, Trabajé…), not «Hice…» every time.

1Modelo: una conversación natural

InterpretivoInterpersonal

Camila y Andrés en la cafetería (Chelsea High School)

Camila
¡Hola, Andrés! ¿Qué tal tu verano? ¿Qué hiciste?
Hi, Andrés! How was your summer? What did you do?
Andrés
Pues… a ver… en julio trabajé en el restaurante de mi tío en East Boston.
Well… let's see… in July I worked at my uncle's restaurant in East Boston.
Camila
¿De verdad? ¿Y qué hiciste allí?
Really? And what did you do there?
Andrés
Lavé platos y atendí mesas. Fue difícil, pero gané bastante dinero. ¿Y tú?
I washed dishes and waited tables. It was hard, but I earned quite a bit of money. And you?
Camila
Yo fui a Colombia con mi mamá. Estuvimos tres semanas en Medellín.
I went to Colombia with my mom. We were in Medellín for three weeks.
Andrés
¡Qué bien! ¿Con quién te quedaste?
How nice! Who did you stay with?
Camila
Con mis abuelos. Mi abuela me hizo arepas todas las mañanas.
With my grandparents. My grandma made me arepas every morning.
Andrés
¡Qué rico! ¿Y qué más hicieron?
Yum! And what else did you do?
Camila
Bueno, subimos al metrocable y fuimos a Guatapé. Allí subí cientos de escalones hasta la cima de una roca enorme.
Well, we rode the cable car and went to Guatapé. There I climbed hundreds of steps to the top of a huge rock.
Andrés
¡No me digas! ¿Y no te cansaste?
No way! And you didn't get tired?
Camila
¡Claro que sí! Pero la vista fue increíble. Oye, ¿pudiste ir a la playa?
Of course I did! But the view was incredible. Hey, were you able to go to the beach?
Andrés
Solo una vez, a Revere. Qué lástima, ¿no?
Only once, to Revere. What a shame, right?
