Guía del profesor · Teacher guide (≈ 55 min)

Pacing guide: Interpersonal · Interpersonal · Grammar: Subjunctive + future in negotiation · Product: Group plan

  1. Modelo (7 min): Predict poll. Play the dialogue; students raise a hand each time they hear a future verb, and point up for each subjunctive.
  2. Frases útiles (6 min): Read the phrase bank chorally; quick MC check of which phrase fits each moment.
  3. Tarjetas de rol (12 min): Pairs: 2 minutes per card, switch roles. Monitor and note 2–3 common errors to fix on the board.
  4. Ruleta (6 min): Whole class spin; volunteers answer with a full sentence + reason.
  5. Plan del grupo (14 min): Groups of 3–4 choose one initiative and complete the plan checklist out loud. One student writes the plan on paper; the teacher collects it for Day 116.
  6. Autoevaluación (4 min): Students rate themselves honestly.
  7. Boleto de salida (6 min): Exit MC + one-sentence plan summary + confidence check.

Interpersonal day; the group plan becomes the content of the Day 116 written proposal and Day 118 pitch. Recycles the subjunctive of recommendation (Day 87: sugerir que, recomendar que), impersonal expressions (Day 102) and the future (Days 112–113). Form groups of 3–4 in advance so each group has a mix of strong and developing speakers.

Escucha: Jazmín, Bryan y Lucía planifican

Jazmín
Bueno, tenemos que elegir una iniciativa para la escuela. ¿Qué proponen?
OK, we have to choose an initiative for the school. What do you propose?
Bryan
Sugiero que pongamos contenedores de compost en el comedor. Se tira mucha comida.
I suggest we put compost bins in the cafeteria. A lot of food gets thrown away.
Lucía
Me gusta la idea, pero dudo que los estudiantes separen la basura sin ayuda.
I like the idea, but I doubt students will separate the trash without help.
Jazmín
Entonces es mejor que hagamos letreros con dibujos, en inglés y en español.
Then it's better that we make signs with drawings, in English and Spanish.
Bryan
¡Perfecto! Yo haré los letreros. Dibujo bastante bien.
Perfect! I'll make the signs. I draw pretty well.
Lucía
Y yo hablaré con la directora el lunes. Es necesario que ella esté de acuerdo.
And I'll talk to the principal on Monday. It's necessary that she agree.
Jazmín
Yo escribiré la propuesta. ¿Cuándo empezaremos?
I'll write the proposal. When will we start?
Bryan
Propongo que empecemos después de las vacaciones de abril. Así tendremos tiempo.
I propose we start after April vacation. That way we'll have time.
Lucía
De acuerdo. Ojalá que funcione. ¡Nuestro comedor será el más verde de Worcester!
Agreed. Hopefully it works. Our cafeteria will be the greenest in Worcester!

Fíjate en la diferencia:

  • Sugiero que nosotros hagamos letreros. (sugerencia → subjuntivo)
  • Yo haré los letreros. (promesa / plan → futuro)

«¿Qué tal si…?» va con el presente de indicativo: ¿Qué tal si hacemos letreros?

Suggestion → subjunctive. Promise / plan → future. «¿Qué tal si…?» takes the present indicative.
